Fiberglass pools arrive as factory-built shells, so the backyard construction sequence differs from a pool whose structure is formed entirely on site. Aviva describes the typical progression as excavation, base preparation, shell delivery and placement, plumbing and electrical, backfill, deck and coping, then landscaping and final integration.
1. Planning and site review
The project begins with model selection, site layout, access, utilities, elevations and the surrounding backyard plan. Permitting and local requirements also need to be addressed before excavation.
2. Layout and excavation
The pool footprint is established and the excavation is created to the requirements of the selected shell and installation plan.
3. Base preparation
The excavation base is prepared so the shell can be placed and leveled correctly.
4. Delivery and shell placement
The fiberglass shell arrives complete and is carefully moved into the excavation. Access planning is especially important at this stage.
5. Plumbing, filling and backfill
Plumbing connections and backfill progress according to the installation procedure while the pool is stabilized and prepared for the equipment system.
6. Electrical and pool equipment
Pumps, filtration, lighting, sanitization, heaters and automation are connected according to the selected equipment package and applicable requirements.
7. Coping and decking
The surrounding hardscape turns the installed shell into a usable backyard environment. Material selection and deck area can have a major impact on both aesthetics and budget.
8. Finish work and startup
Final grading, landscaping, equipment startup, water balancing and owner orientation bring the project into service.
Where project management matters
Several trades and decisions overlap during this process. Nexus focuses on coordinating that work so homeowners have a clearer sequence, responsibilities and communication path.
